Seeds, seeds and more seeds!

In Room 10 we have been exploring the fascinating world of growing plants from seeds. It has inspired our curiosity into what kinds of environments are best for growing plants. We have begun research through exploring seed dispersal on the internet and looking at books on the subject. We have looked at some really inspiring poems and then written about our seeds progress in a seed diary. Peruse the photos below of our seed planting afternoon last Friday...

Welcome back to what promises to be a busy but rewarding term!

It is hard to believe that we are now in Term Four! This term we are starting to put together the puzzle of all the things we have learnt over the year. This term we are exploring the living world as part of our Inquiry. We will be focussing on the problem of what plants might be best to plant in the new planter boxes around the school. We will explore where food comes from and will be growing our own bean plants.  For writing we are exploring persuasive and descriptive writing and for maths we are looking at Algebra and numeracy. Keep an eye out on our classroom blog for photos of our Inquiry journey throughout the term.

Kite celebration - Term 3 2011

What a lovely sunny day we had when it was the kite celebration day. We all had such a great time flying our kites up into the sky. Enjoy some of the photos of the day...

Iron Brion

We enjoyed the special visit from Iron Brion last week. We learnt all about sensible food choices and how food is grouped into things we can eat little of, some things we can eat some of and some things we can eat all the time.

Room 10 updates

We have been trying super hard with our learning in Room 10. Our Inquiry has us exploring new words and using them in our everyday classroom programme, words such as: connecting, collaborating, reflecting, questioning, discerning and being resilient. Have a look at some of the examples of this happening in our classroom this term...

Setting goals for our learning

We are always seeing the benefits of setting goals for our learning. They mean that we have a vision of where we are heading and what we need to do to get there. On our classroom wall we all have a goal sheet with 3 goals on it, one is for Reading, one is for Writing and one is for Maths.
